Derma 2.0
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
01
What is it?
Derma 2.0 is a cutting-edge, medical-grade skincare treatment system developed in Italy, designed to address various skin concerns through advanced technologies. It combines microneedling and mesotherapy techniques to deliver potent active ingredients directly into the skin, stimulating natural healing and rejuvenation processes. The treatment is known for its effectiveness in improving skin texture, tone, and elasticity, as well as reducing the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, scars, and stretch marks. Derma 2.0 is highly regarded for its ability to deliver professional, medical-grade results tailored to individual skin needs.
03
Does it hurt?
Microneedling and mesotherapy can be uncomfortable but not unbareable. For under-eye treatments we can numb the area.
02
What are the benefits?
Derma 2.0 is extremely versatile with medical-grade options for all different skin concerns. Customised & Targeted Treatment: Derma 2.0 treatment plans are tailored to tackle your individual skin concerns. I map your face and use different serums on different areas as indicated. Tailored active ingredients are delivered directly into the skin, providing personalised care that targets your specific skin concerns. Skin Rejuvenation: By combining microneedling and mesotherapy, Derma 2.0 accelerates skin renewal, delivering active ingredients into the skin - leading to smoother, firmer, and more youthful-looking skin. Reduction of Fine Lines and Wrinkles: Derma 2.0 effectively targets and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, helping to restore a more youthful complexion. Derma 2.0 Lifting can be used as a botox alternative, inhibiting muscle contraction but without the ‘frozen’ look. Improved Skin Tone and Texture: All the Derma 2.0 serums address uneven skin tone and texture, leaving the skin more radiant, plump, smooth and uniform in appearance. Hyperpigmentation Correction: Derma 2.0 Whitening helps reduce the visibility of dark spots and hyperpigmentation, resulting in a clearer and more even skin tone. Scar and Stretch Mark Reduction: Derma 2.0 Repair can significantly minimise the appearance of scars and stretch marks by promoting skin healing and regeneration.
04
When will I see results & how long does it last?
Most clients will notice an improvement in their skin concerns after the first session, however it is recommended to have a treatment plan of between 2-5 sessions for the full benefit and for the results to last. This full course is only required once a year, with a maintenance session recommended at around 6 months.
DERMA 2.0 SKIN TREATMENT SYSTEM
THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT SERUMS & WHAT I USE THEM FOR
The key concept of the entire Derma 2.0 system is to “return to the use of formulations containing active ingredients with scientifically proven properties” that allow for concrete results. Here's a brief run-down of the different formulations I use and their active ingredients:

DERMA 2.0 LIFTING - for softening lines and wrinkles & hydration
Known as the "botox alternative" and works by significantly reducing the contraction of the mimic muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkle formation - i.e. the muscles we use to show expressions such as frowning.
THE ACTIVES
Derma 2.0 Lifting contains two synthetic peptides (short chains of amino acids) Leuphasyl 5% & Argireline 5%
-
LEUPHASYL 5% (pentapeptide-18): Leuphasyl inhibits release of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter which triggers muscle contractions. This leads to a reduction in the intensity of muscle contractions, especially in areas prone to expression lines like the forehead and around the eyes. It works in a similar way to Botox, but as a non-invasive alternative.
-
ARGIRELINE 5% (acetyl hexapeptide-8): Argireline also inhibits the release of acetylcholine and therefore reduces muscle contraction of the dynamic muscles. It also has the added benefit of stimulating collagen and elastin in the long term
-
When argireline and leuphasyl are used together they can give more comprehensive results.
Derma 2.0 Lifting vs 'botox':
Botox injections reliably immobilise specific muscles for 3-4 months. Lifting won't deliver the immediate, dramatic results of Botox, but instead provide a more subtle, gradual, and non-invasive approach to reducing wrinkles. For deep dynamic wrinkles caused by the expression muscles, botox remains more consistently effective.

DERMA 2.0 FIRMING - targets loss of tone & elasticity as a result of ageing
As we age our skin loses tone and elasticity due to the fibroblasts (the cells responsible for producing collagen and elastin) slowing down their activity. Not only is the production of collagen and elastin reduced, but the size of these proteins also diminishes as we age leading to the thinning of the skin & structural failure. Many of my clients are concerned with the ageing of their mid & lower face & neck - as loose, thin and unstructured skin becomes especially apparent here.

THE ACTIVES
-
DMAE 7%: DMAE is an organic compound that’s naturally found in the body. In the skin, it works to stimulate, thicken & strengthen collagen fibres resulting in a plumping, lifting and even a brightening effect, as well as decreasing lines and wrinkles. It evens out skin tone by reducing the pigment that causes age spots. It also hydrates (especially when used in conjunction with hyaluronic acid) and soothes inflamed, red or irritated skin acting as a powerful anti-inflammatory.
-
ORGANIC SILICON 1%: is a structural component of our connective tissues. It promotes the production of collagen and elastin, and prevents them from breaking down too quickly over time.
-
REJULINE COMPLEX™: This is a special patented peptide complex that bio-stimulates cell regeneration and strengthens the elasticity and tone of the skin tissues (by inducing the new collagen, elastin, fibronectin and laminin). It also increases the life span of extracellular matrix proteins such as elastin, collagen, fibronectin and laminin and the production of procollagen.
-
HYALURONIC ACID: Restarts all metabolic processes, reduces the water loss and maintains elastic and toned tissues. High & low molecular weight to reach different layers of the skin.
-
ESSENTIAL AMINO ACIDS: (Hydroxyproline, Proline, Lysine, Glycine, Acetylcysteine) to provide nourishment

DERMA 2.0 BIO - for overall biorevitalisation and skin rejuvenation
Improves skin tone and elasticity, promotes radiance and leads to a more smooth and compacted outer layer of the skin and a strong skin barrier.

THE ACTIVES
-
3 MOLECULAR WEIGHTS OF HYALURONIC ACID 30mg/ml: High (a larger molecule) works at the epidermal level (outer layer of the skin) where it acts as a humectant and a hydrator. It is a film-forming compound that prevents the loss of water between the skins layers. Low molecular weight HA penetrates up to the dermis - a deeper layer of the skin - where it acts as a filler and stimulates the production of collagen collagen fibres. Medium molecular weight has a mix of both functions.
-
SODIUM DNA (Polynucleotides) 2%: stimulates cell turnover, collagen production, repair and scavenges damaging free radicals
-
DMAE (see firming!)
-
ARGIRELINE to soften muscle contractions
-
GLUTATHIONE to brighten, tone and promote elasticity
-
11 AMINO ACIDS
-
VITAMINS:
-
Vitamin A Palmitate (Retinol) stimulates cell turnover, stimulates collagen production for a strong, compact outer layer of the skin
-
Vitamin E Acetate - an anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory, elasticises, nourishes, repairs and regulates sebum
-
Vitamin B1 (thiamine) helps give energy to the cells
-
Vitamin B3 (niacinamide) - an anti-oxidant, moisturiser, sebum regulator
-
Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) helps regulate the production of the skin
-
Vitamin B8 (biotin) regulates sebum and helps to produce keratin to ensure tissue health
-
Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) an antioxidant
-

DERMA 2.0 REPAIR - to repair scars, acne scars, stretch marks, skin imperfections
THE ACTIVES
-
PSEUDOALTEROMONAS EXTRACT: has a very powerful restructuring action ideal for stretch mark treatment and scar treatment
-
D-PANTHENOL: activates the proliferation of fibroblasts (the cells which produce collagen)
-
CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRAC: a powerful wound healing plant extract
-
AMINO ACID COMPLEX
-
BIOMIMETIC PEPTIDES: to stimulate & regulate cellular processes
-
SODIUM HYALURONATE: important in the restructuring of scars and stretch marks & for uniform texture

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT
-
Please come to your appointment with minimal make up to the areas that are going to be treated. If you have a beard, please remove the facial hair prior to treatment.
-
Limit your alcohol consumption 24 hours before and after this treatment.
-
If you suffer from cold-sore consider taking Zovirax or similar prior to the appointment.
-
For 24 hours before your treatment appointment it is advised that you avoid anti-inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen and Aspirin. Paracetamol is fine to take and the only pain relief I advise you to take 24 hours before and after treatment
-
Avoid direct sunlight. I will not be able to treat sunburnt skin.
THE TREATMENT ITSELF
The appointment will last around 60 minutes. When you arrive we'll go over the treatment, fill out some forms and go over any questions you may have and the aftercare.
We begin with the microneedling session which takes around 10-15 minutes. I then follow with the mesotherapy injections into the target areas we are treating. This can take around 20 minutes. After the mesotherapy, I apply an optional polynucleotides mask to soothe, hydrate and begin the healing process in the skin. You will then leave the appointment with the mask on, so please ensure you don't have any plans after the appointment.
Aftercare
Please follow aftercare advice to ensure optimal results and minimise potential side effects. Please note you will have red skin from the microneedling, and small papules of product will present as lumps on the skin. The redness and papules will diminish over the next 24-48 hours.

IMMEDIATE POST-CARE
Avoid Touching the Treated Area: Your skin may feel sensitive, and it's important to avoid touching or scratching it to prevent infections.
-
No Makeup: Refrain from applying makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment to allow your skin to breathe and recover.
-
Avoid Direct Sunlight: Your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays, so avoid sun exposure for at least 48 hours. If you must go outside, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Do NOT apply the same day.
-
Stay away from hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise that causes sweating for 48 hours. Heat can exacerbate inflammation.
-
Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, or any water that might contain bacteria for at least 48 hours.
-
Mild redness, peeling, or flakiness is normal and can last for a few days. Avoid picking or peeling the skin to prevent scarring.
-
Consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants can help support the healing process.
-
Avoid smoking & alcohol as both can impair healing, so it's best to avoid them for a few days post-treatment.
SKIN CARE ROUTINE
-
Gentle Cleansing: Use a mild, non-exfoliating and non-foaming cleanser to wash your face, starting the day after treatment. Avoid any harsh or active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs for at least a week.
-
Hydration: Keep your skin well-hydrated. Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser ideally with ceramides to help soothe and repair the skin. Hyaluronic acid-based serums can also be beneficial.
-
Avoid Active Ingredients: Refrain from using products containing retinol, vitamin C, or other active ingredients for at least 48 hours, as these can irritate the treated skin. Begin using as soon as your skin allows (i.e. doesn’t feel overly irritated on application).
