ACNE SKIN TREATMENTS

I offer advanced skin treatments tailored to address all acne concerns, including active acne, pigmentation and lingering scars, to rejuvenate your complexion and boost your confidence. I use Derma 2.0 medical-grade peels, designed to target acne at its source, and mesotherapy serums to reduce redness, inflammation and scars.

Derma 2.0 Purifying peel is a powerful, clinically-proven treatment that deeply exfoliates and renews the skin by helping to unclog pores, reduce inflammation, control oil production and fade acne scars. This advanced peel helps to reset the balance in your skin between skin cell turnover, exfoliation and oil production whilst keeping the skin hydrated.

For enhanced results, I recommend combining a short course of peels with microneedling and mesotherapy to target any scarring and reduce inflammation. This minimally invasive treatment delivers vitamins, antioxidants, and healing nutrients directly into the skin.

At your complimentary consultation, I’ll recommend a bespoke treatment plan to ensure optimal results for acne management and long-term skin health. I can also help advise on what to use at home to keep your skin happy, with medical-grade skincare available to purchase from the clinic.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

01

What is it?

Derma 2.0 is a cutting-edge, medical-grade skincare treatment system developed in Italy, designed to address various skin concerns through advanced technologies. It combines chemical peels, microneedling and mesotherapy, along with at-home skincare to deliver potent active ingredients directly into the skin, stimulating natural healing and rejuvenation processes. The Purifying peel and Repair serums are a incomparable duo for targeting active acne, oil production and scarring.

03

Does it hurt?

No - the peel can tingle when it's on the skin, and microneedling and mesotherapy can be uncomfortable but not unbearable.

02

What are the benefits?

'Medical grade' means it has been 'clinically proven to change (i.e. improve!) the skin. When you suffer from acne, this is all you want. My acne treatments will speed up your cell turnover, unclog pores, control oil production and get to work on redness, inflammation and scarring.

04

When will I see results & how long does it last?

Most clients will notice an improvement in their skin concerns after the first session, however it is recommended to have a treatment plan of between 2-5 sessions for the full benefit and for the results to last. This full course is only required once a year, with a maintenance session recommended at around 6 months, and then to repeat the process after another 6 months.

DERMA 2.0 ACNE SKIN TREATMENTS
MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO ACNEIC SKIN

Using the Derma 2.0 system we can significantly reduce active acne, rebalance the skin microbiome and rejuvenate areas of scarring and inflammation. Here's a brief run-down of the different formulations I use and their active ingredients:

DERMA 2.0 PURIFYING PEEL - for active acne

Acne tends to occur due to abnormal exfoliation and reduced skin cell turnover rate in the hair follicles caused by an increase in the production of sebum (the oil in our skin). This oil is also an ideal breeding ground for bacteria, which combined with the slow cell turnover then leads to acne.

THE ACTIVES

  • PYRUVIC ACID: this helps to remove the ‘keratin plug’ i.e. unclog hair follicles which then turn into acne. It also reduces the oily appearance of the skin and also helps to reduce inflammation.

  • SALICYLIC ACID: this promotes skin cell turnover and is antibacterial as well as anti-inflammatory

  • LACTIC ACID: this stimulates the production of ceramides which essentially help to moisturise the skin and keep it hydrated (one of the worst things about many acne treatments is that they can dry out the skin leaving it irritated, sensitised and inflamed)

  • AZALEIC ACID: this helps to reduce pigmentation as well as being anti-bacterial

DERMA 2.0 REPAIR - to repair scars, acne scars, stretch marks, skin imperfections

THE ACTIVES

  • PSEUDOALTEROMONAS EXTRACT: has a very powerful restructuring action ideal for stretch mark treatment and scar treatment

  • D-PANTHENOL: activates the proliferation of fibroblasts (the cells which produce collagen)

  • CENTELLA ASIATICA EXTRAC: a powerful wound healing plant extract

  • AMINO ACID COMPLEX

  • BIOMIMETIC PEPTIDES: to stimulate & regulate cellular processes

  • SODIUM HYALURONATE: important in the restructuring of scars and stretch marks & for uniform texture

BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

  • Please come to your appointment with minimal make up to the areas that are going to be treated. If you have a beard, please remove the facial hair prior to treatment.

  • Avoid using skincare with active ingredients 7 days prior to your appointment - including AHAs, BHAs, Vitamin C & retinols

  • Limit your alcohol consumption 24 hours before and after this treatment.

  • If you suffer from cold-sore consider taking Zovirax or similar prior to the appointment.

  • For 24 hours before your treatment appointment it is advised that you avoid anti-inflammatory pain killers like Ibuprofen and Aspirin. Paracetamol is fine to take and the only pain relief I advise you to take 24 hours before and after treatment

  • Avoid direct sunlight. I will not be able to treat sunburnt skin.

THE TREATMENT ITSELF

The appointment will last around 60 minutes. When you arrive we'll go over the treatment,  fill out some forms and go over any questions you may have and the aftercare.

We begin with the microneedling session which takes around 10-15 minutes. I then follow with the mesotherapy injections into the target areas we are treating. This can take around 20 minutes. After the mesotherapy, I apply an optional polynucleotides mask to soothe, hydrate and begin the healing process in the skin. You will then leave the appointment with the mask on, so please ensure you don't have any plans after the appointment.

Aftercare

Please follow aftercare advice to ensure optimal results and minimise potential side effects. Please note you will have red skin from the microneedling, and small papules of product will present as lumps on the skin. The redness and papules will diminish over the next 24-48 hours.

IMMEDIATE POST-CARE
Avoid touching the treated area: Your skin may feel sensitive, and it's important to avoid touching or scratching it to prevent infections.

  • No makeup: Refrain from applying makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment to allow your skin to breathe and recover.

  • Avoid direct sunlight: Your skin will be more sensitive to UV rays, so avoid sun exposure for at least 48 hours. If you must go outside, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher. Do NOT apply the same day.

  • Stay away from hot showers, saunas, steam rooms, and strenuous exercise that causes sweating for 48 hours. Heat can exacerbate inflammation.

  • Avoid swimming in pools, hot tubs, or any water that might contain bacteria for at least 48 hours.

  • Put a fresh, clean pillow case on that night.

  • Mild redness, peeling, or flakiness is normal and can last for a few days. Avoid picking or peeling the skin to prevent scarring.

  • Consuming a balanced diet rich in vitamins and antioxidants can help support the healing process.

  • Avoid smoking & alcohol as both can impair healing, so it's best to avoid them for a few days post-treatment.

SKIN CARE ROUTINE

  • Gentle cleansing: Use a mild, non-exfoliating and non-foaming cleanser to wash your face, starting the day after treatment. Avoid any harsh or active ingredients like retinoids, AHAs, or BHAs for at least a week.

  • Hydration: Keep your skin well-hydrated. Use a gentle, hydrating moisturiser ideally with ceramides to help soothe and repair the skin. Hyaluronic acid-based serums can also be beneficial.

  • Avoid Active Ingredients: Refrain from using products containing retinol, vitamin C, or other active ingredients for at least 48 hours, as these can irritate the treated skin. Begin using as soon as your skin allows (i.e. doesn’t feel overly irritated on application).

Skin Clinic Evesham

"I hadn’t ever had a skin peel so I wasn’t sure what to expect, but Rachel took me through the process thoroughly and made me feel comfortable at ease throughout and I enjoyed the process. My skin looks and feels refreshed and healthier even after just the first treatment. I’m looking forward to my second peel in the new year. Highly recommended"
